You’ll identify innovative strategies for improving health policies and practices. And you’ll gain a solid foundation in statistical analysis and research methods. Dedicated professors will work closely with you, empowering you to develop your own vision for health justice. Outside of class, you’ll participate in an internship in the San Francisco Bay Area, where you’ll find a wealth of community organizations and institutions focused on health equity.
Mills offers two academic paths toward the major (view our for in-depth information):
- The major (BA) in public health and health equity is best for students interested in health advocacy, policy, education, program management, law, or healthcare administration.
- The major (BA or BS) in public health and health equity with a health sciences concentration is best for students who seek to use scientific innovation to improve health outcomes. It prepares them for fields such as medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, epidemiology, health education, and global health research; the BS option provides particularly strong preparation for medical school.
