Offered by the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, the WLSC minor combines an academic curriculum with community internships so that you can gain the analytic and practical skills to become an informed, visionary leader. Courses span multiple disciplines and enable you to focus on the issues you’re passionate about, whether it’s the prison–industrial complex, the environment, or access to education. Your professors will be highly regarded scholars and researchers who are also dedicated teachers. They’ll help you customize the minor so it reflects your interests and complements your major.
Throughout your course work, you’ll perform nuanced analysis, participate in original research, and investigate the roles that language and culture play in our understanding of social issues. Outside of class, you’ll put theory into practice in a community internship. From feminist maker spaces to transgender healthcare nonprofits, the San Francisco Bay Area boasts myriad women’s and LGBTQ-focused organizations. Academic and experiential, the WLSC minor will embolden you as a thinker, activist, and professional. View our for in-depth information on the minor.
